Setting aside a day to commemorate, educate and reflect on the principles that form the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) means celebrating the rights we exercise everyday and that many of us – the lucky ones – take for granted.
Basic human rights include “the right to life, liberty and security of person,” the right to an education, the right to receive medical care, and the freedom to practice our chosen religion. But these rights are not equally available to all – far from it.
That is why Innovairre is so proud to count among our clients more than 500 non-profit organizations that work to make our world a better place: one in which every day will be Human Rights Day.
We salute the great work organizations like UNICEF, Doctors Without Borders, The City of Hope, The Sierra Club and so many others do every day to make human rights inalienable rights for all.
And we’d like to urge you to participate in the UN Human Rights Commission’s social media campaign to celebrate the 21st anniversary of the Declaration.
The Commission is asking supporters to join a global social media campaign with the theme Human Rights 365 #rights365. Here’s how it works:
Make your voice heard now via our campaign on Vine: explain why Human Rights matter 365, to explain why human rights need to be celebrated every day, all year.
UN Human Rights has also started a Thunderclap to gather Vines, videos, Tweets, photos, blog posts and Facebook posts explaining what human rights mean to you. Each video should start by saying “Human rights matter 365 because…”
On the Thunderclap, they will collect all the 6-second Vines, tagged with #rights365 and then post the best ones in their Storify.
The declaration was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in Paris on 10 December 1948. It set out, according to the UN Commissioner of Human Rights, for the first time, fundamental human rights to be universally protected as a common standard of achievements for all peoples and all nations.
