February 4 is World Cancer Day, an awareness effort that highlights the solutions to cancer prevention and treatment that already are within our reach.

What you need to know about cancer prevention

AICR’s recommends that we:

  • Eat Smart: Aim for a diet high in plant foods and low in animal products.
  • Move More: Regular physical activity helps maintain a bodily environment that discourages cancer growth.
  • Stay Lean: After not smoking, this is the most important thing you can do to protect against cancer.

The AICR website contains research and prevention resources for cancer patients and survivors, health professionals and researchers. The New American Plate Challenge, a 12-week program to help you eat healthier and be more active, is among AICR’s current initiatives.

Prevent50.org is AICR’s latest cancer prevention awareness site, with resources including quizzes, infographics and meal planners that are meant to be shared in social media. It includes an interactive quiz that helps you determine whether you are active enough, healthy recipes and lots more.
